December 23rd the movie “Vasilisa” is released; Aleksey Barabash, an alumnus of SPbUHSS, is starring in the film.

main.jpg“Vasilisa” is a movie directed by A.Sivers, a historical romance about the Patriotic War of 1812 and life and deeds of Vasilisa Kozhina (Svetlana Khodchenkova) the heroine of the peoples’ partisan war. A.Barabash plays the role of Tsar Alexandre I. Irina Rozanova, Andrey Noskov, Jerom Kuzan, Olivier Siu, Ilia Noskov etc. are also starring in the movie.

Aleksey Igorevich Barabash graduated from Arts Faculty of SPbUHSS in 1997. His teacher was the Russian Peoples’ Artist, Professor Zinovy Karagodsky (1926-2004), a legendary theater director and a teacher, since 1993 till 2004 he was the head of Drama Stage Art and Directing Department of the University. His choice of the profession was not occasional. His grandmother Galina Frantsevna Rusetskaya was an actress in the Comedy Theater named after Akimov and was acquainted with many teachers of SPbUHSS.

Alexey Barabash after graduating from the University was admitted to troupe of the Youth Theater. He took part in performances of the festival theater “Baltiisky dom”.

A.Barabash plays in movies since 2000. He worked with such distinguished cinema directors as Evgeny Tatarsky, Sergey Bodrov, Alexander Proshkin, Dmitry Meskhiev, Alexander Sokurov, Viktor Merezhko. In different years A.Barabash worked on film sets with such actors as Oleg Yankovsky, Viktor Sukhorukov etc.

October 10th 2013 was widely released Feodor Bondarchuk’s movie “Stalingrad” where A.Barabash is starring in the role of Nikiforov.
