March 19th. Rector of SPbUHSS academician Alexander Zapesotsky met the President of Tel-Aviv University professor Josef Klafter in Tel-Aviv.

The issues of the academic collaboration development of two partner universities signed an Agreement recently were discussed at this meeting.

SPbUHSS has got such partner relations with many of the best world’s universities.

This enables our students to train abroad in the leading educational institutions of China, Korea, Germany, USA, Japan etc. The best professors of foreign universities give lectures and master classes, take part in the International Scientific Likhachev Conference – Russia's largest annual forum of the humanities.

Tel-Aviv University (אוניברסיטת תל אביב) is one of the largest universities of Israel; it is situated in Ramat-Aviv district of Tel-Aviv.

TAU was founded in 1956. There are 9 faculties where more than 25 000 students from many countries including Russia study.

The University in almost all rankings is among the top twenty of the best universities in the world. The educational and research programs on Biomedicine, Neurobiology, Cybernetics, renewable energy and nanotechnology and developments in the Defense industry are the priority of the Tel Aviv University.

The President of TAU Josef Klafter is an established person in his field Chemical Physics. J. Klafter took his Bachelor and Master degrees at Bar-Ilan University and his Doctor of Chemistry degree at Tel-Aviv University in 1978. He worked in Technological Institute of Massachusetts, than he worked in research department of “Exxson Mobil” Corporation (USA). In 1987 J. Klafter moved to the Chemical Institute named after Raymond and Beverly Sakler at TAU. J. Klafter was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1989.

Dr. Klafter has published more than 400 scientific articles and edited 18 monographs. He is a member of the Editorial Board of six scientific journals, of the scientific committee of many conferences, of many prestigious scientific organizations including American Physical Society. Dr. Klafter is winner of many awards including Award of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Weizmann Science Prize, Rothschild Prize in Chemistry and Israel Chemical Society Award. He is an Honorable Doctor of Wroclaw Technological University (Poland).

Since 2002 till 2009 Dr. Klafter has been a chairman of the scientific council of Israel Science Foundation.
