This year Olympic Champion, state and public figure, a member of the Russian State Duma Irina Rodnina was awarded as the Honored Doctor of SPbUHSS.
The first Honorary Doctor in SPbUHSS in 1993 became academician Dmitry Likhachev. During next 20 years the distinguished figures of Arts, Sciences, Politics became the Honorary Doctors of SPbUHSS.
Irina Rodnina is 22nd Honorary Doctor of SPbUHSS. She is the legendary figure skater, tree-time Olympic champion, ten-time World Champion never lost any competition.
The Grand ceremony is a very bright show. Irina Rodnina was accompanied on the stage by the Rector Alexander Zapesotsky and many other Honorary Doctors of SPbUHSS.
Rector gave a speech about the sportive, pedagogical and public biography of Irina Rodnina, than announced the decision of the University’s Scientific Council. Students brought the mantle, doctoral cap, Diploma and flowers to the stage. Rector put the mantle on the Honorary Doctor Irina Rodnina under the sounds of the anthem Gaudeamus.
The honored guests of the Ceremony congratulated new Honorary Doctor of the University.
Irina Rodnina gave a respond word with appreciating the honor.
The Ceremony finished with the marble board with the name of the Honorary Doctor Irina Rodnina opening in the hall near the conference room for the University’s Scientific Council.
