October 6. Assistant Professor Maxim Prokofiev, SPbUHSS, Department of Choreography, will give master classes in classical dance at Russian Ballet College in Genoa (Italy). Classes will be held till the end of the fall semester.

prokofev.jpgMaxim Prokofiev is a graduate of Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy.

Maxim Prokofiev danced with the National Ballet (Mexico) since 1983, than was a soloist of Mikhailovsky Theatre, where works as a professor since 2006. Also he taught classical dance at the Kennedy Ballet School, Albuquerque (USA), at the National School of Ballet (Mexico) and at the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy (Russia).

SPbUHSS Department of Choreography was created in 1961. The academic theater artists led by a teacher, a famous Russian choreographer, Honored Artist of Russia, author of Miniatures and ballet performances, a disciple of the world-famous teachers Prof. Ponomarev and Prof. Vaganova, Prof. Gromov were the founders of the Department. Among the graduates of the Department of Choreography are: the Latin American world champion in sequence dancing Andrei Paramonov; repeated winner and winner of the Championship of Russia in Latin program Natalya Petrova; champions of Russia in 2000, Sergei and Olga Eremins; Vice-president of the Federation of Moscow Dance Sport Viktor Sekistov; Champions of St. Petersburg Dance Sport, finalists and winners of the North American professional league championship of 2002-2004 Vladislav Ivanov and Karina Moskaleva and many others.
