Saint Petersburg University of the Humanities and Social Sciences was the first institution of higher education in country has put the beginning to the tradition to celebrate the Knowledge Day which was earlier celebrated only at schools.

Since that time, annually, irrespective of the day of the week September the 1^st is, all teachers and students has been meeting together at 11:00 o'clock exactly on the university square named after the academician Dmitry Likhachev.

On Monday, September the 1^st, 2016, the 25^th University Knowledge Day, over than 500 people: teachers, staff, students and their parents, honorable guests came.

They were greeted by:

– Prof. Dr. Abdusalam Guseinov – Scientific Director of the Institute of Philosophy at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, SPbUHSS Doctor Honoris causa;

– Evgeny Makarov – Vice President for the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia;

– Alexey Cherkasov – Deputy Minister for Labour and Social protection of the Russian Federation

– Vladimir Pligin – Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Construction;

– Mohamed Elbadri – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt

– Piotr Tolochko - Director of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of NAS of Ukraine, a foreign member of the RAS, Dr. Sc. (History), Professor;

–Valentinaна Koryazina – The Chief of the Department of Federal Tax Service in St. Petersburg.;

– Riad Haddad - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syrian Arab Republic;
