Among the speakers at the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room of the United Nation’s Palais des Nations were:
- Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General;
- Michael Møller, Director General, UN Office at Geneva;
- Joachim Rucker, President of the United Nations Human Rights Council;
- Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights;
- Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations of UN.
The concert with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, led by the conductor Daniel Barenboim, was held. Musicians from the Middle East, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Spain are among the members of the orchestra. The idea of a dialogue of cultures in the name of peace and cooperation is realized through their work.
After the concert, Rector Zapesotsky took part in a charity dinner at the Hotel Intercontinental in favor of a humanistic oriented contemporary art: “Art Can Change the World”.
