March 31. University Press has released the FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGLISH textbook (theoretical and practical course) by SPbUHSS Associate Professor Julia Gurova, Department of English Language. The edition contains chapters devoted to the main topics of the course 'Fundamentals of the language theory (English)', 'British Study', 'History of language and introduction to Special Philology', 'National-historical development of foreign languages 'and others. The manual is intended for future linguists, interpreters, masters, as well as for the students studying supplementary education program “Interpreter in the sphere of professional communication”. It includes basic information on History, Lexicography, Lexicology, Stylistics, Theoretical Grammar of the English language, as well as questions for self-monitoring to seminary studies, exercises according to subjects, topics, glossary.
The manual is created in accordance with the Federal State educational standards in areas of training "Linguistics" and "History of Art". It is recommended by Educational and Methodical Association of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences as a manual on the classical University’s and technical education for students of the higher educational institutions studying in the following areas: 50.03.03 – “History of Arts” (Specialty “International Art Business and Foreign (European) Language in the sphere of professional communication” (Protocol № 520 on June 23, 2015).

Julia Gurova is SPbUHSS acting Head of the Department of English Language, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philology, a member of the Council of Young Scientists of St. Petersburg, expert, member of the St. Petersburg’s Methodical Council. Mrs. Gurova was awarded a winner diploma for pedagogical mastery in the nomination "The Best Young Professor at the University" in 2010 for the effective use of innovative technologies and information technologies in the development of the training program "The Phonetic Unit" for the creation of educational and methodical complex on discipline "Fundamentals of Theory of the studied language" in 2012. She is an author of 3 monographs and more than 100 scientific and educational-methodical publications in native and international editions.
