April, 25. Lecture by Emil Brix, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to the Russian Federation “Politics of Memory in Post-Cold War Europe“, was held in SPbUHSS

The lecture by Ambassador Brix was organized in the framework of the Diplomatic program of the International Likhachev Scientific Conference “International Dialogue of Cultures”, which has been implemented by SPbUHSS since 2008 under the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The lecture was addressed to SPbUHSS students, graduates and professors.

Emil Brix holds the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria in Moscow in 2015. From 2010 to 2015 served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria in Great Britain (London).

Emil Brix is a historian and a culturologist. Much of his work and creative life is connected with the diplomatic career on the line of Culture (Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Austria in Warsaw, Director of the Austrian Cultural Institute in London, Head of the Department of Culture and the Policies of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs).

Currently Ambassador Brix, actively works in scientific field, is a member of the research of historical and cultural organizations, besides his diplomatic activity.
