March 29. The XIX International HIGHEST MARK OR INTELLECT + BEAUTY = STUDENT Competition was held at the SPbUHSS. The first prize winner - Ms. Marina Karpunina (Krasnoyarsk).

The Competition was started by 18 ladies chosen out of more than 3 000 applicants representing St. Petersburg, Moscow, regions of Russia, Kazakhstan and Israel.

The Competition training took a week and included different classes: foreign language, scenic speech, dance, theater, music, and sport.

The bright and exiting contest of intellect and beauty was hosted by Rector Alexander Zapesotsky and Ms. Svetlana Smirnova, theater and cinema actress, SPbUHSS 2005 graduate. The representative jury evaluated the competitors.

Ms. Marina Karpunina (Krasnoyarsk) became a winner of the competition. A free enrollment to the SPbUHSS within a chosen specialty and a SKODA RAPID sponsored by GRIFFIN-AUTO are the prizes she gets.

Ms. Michel Ashkinadze (Israel) won the second prize. Michel also has been granted the People’s Choice Award, the annual subscription of one of the most popular Internet libraries. The prize was awarded on the results of voting at the University website.

Ms. Viktoria Nikilskaya (Velikiy Novgorod) got the third prize.

Finalists will have an opportunity to become SPbUHSS students on special conditions. This is a unique opportunity to go to the University, which have the highest admission competition in St. Petersburg (according to the Committee on Science and Higher Education for the year 2014) and graduates who are extremely in demand in the job market. According to the Federal Employment In 2015 only 2 of SPbGUP graduates appealed to the Labour Exchange, according to the research of the Federal Employment Service. In many specialties no one unemployed graduated from the University over the past 10 years.
Prof. Dr. Zapesotsky, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, answering questions of journalists, which came to support the contestants and inform people of their regions about them, noted that the jury’s evaluation is not quite objective.
"But it reflects the integral representation of the members of the jury on what should be a modern student. The purpose of the contest is to create a kind of sample student who learns, looks good and behaves always with dignity in different situations.” Dr. Zapesotsky emphasized that none of the participants did not "sponsor" and no options behind the scenes support throughout all the time of the competition existing. "The competition responds to the principles of the University. It is impossible to go to the university "to pull". We work with people focused on success through quality education."
By a long-time tradition the University will release the TV version of this competition of intellect, beauty and charm.
